Methylisobutylcarbinol

Methylisobutylcarbinol (MIBC), also known as MAOH, 3-MIC, or DL-3-Hexanol, is a short-chain aliphatic alcohol with CAS 108-11-2 and EC 203-551-7. It carries FEMA designation 3351 and is not assigned an E-code, distinguishing it from regulated food additives in EU classification.

In flavor and fragrance formulations, MIBC contributes a mild, clean character and functions as a solvent carrier that improves the dispersion of active compounds across the finished matrix. In plastics processing, it acts as a heat stabilizer co-solvent, supporting the delivery and performance of stabilizer packages during polymer compounding at elevated temperatures.

MIBC is supplied in standard industrial grades compliant with REACH registration requirements and is available in drum and IBC packaging formats.
