Minoxidil

In pharmaceutical manufacturing, minoxidil serves as the active pharmaceutical ingredient in oral antihypertensive formulations, where it relaxes vascular smooth muscle by opening ATP-sensitive potassium channels. In topical personal care formulations, it is incorporated into scalp treatments at concentrations of 2–5%, where the same vasodilatory mechanism is understood to stimulate hair follicle activity.
