Description

Monopotassium phosphate (CAS 7778-77-0), also known as KDP, potassium biphosphate, or E340i, is an inorganic potassium salt of phosphoric acid with the formula KH2PO4. It is approved as a food additive under E340i and is commercially available under designations including Phosphate High and Mono-Potassium.

In food and beverage production, KDP functions as a pH buffer by donating or accepting protons to stabilise acidic formulations within a target range. In water treatment, it acts as a sequestrant, binding calcium and magnesium ions to prevent scale formation. Agricultural applications use it as a soluble phosphorus and potassium source in fertigation systems.

Monopotassium phosphate is sourced in food-grade (FCC, E340i), pharmaceutical-grade (Ph.Eur.), and technical-grade forms. It is supplied as a white powder and falls under REACH registration requirements within the EU. Standard packaging includes 25 kg bags, with bulk options available on request.
