Monosodium phosphate (MSP, CAS 14265-44-2) is an inorganic phosphate salt commonly referenced by the abbreviations PO4, MSP, and PO4(3-). In water treatment, MSP controls scale formation and corrosion by sequestering calcium and magnesium ions before they precipitate on pipe surfaces. In pharmaceutical and food manufacturing, it serves as a pH buffer, maintaining target acidity ranges in formulations where stability depends on precise ionic balance.
