Description

Myristic acid (CAS 544-63-8) is a saturated C14 fatty acid derived from vegetable oils, particularly coconut and palm kernel. It is commercially available under trade names including NAA 142 and Neo-Fat 14, and is referenced under FEMA 2764 in flavour applications. No E-code designation applies.

In personal care formulations, myristic acid reacts with alkali to form C14 soaps that generate dense, stable lather and contribute to emulsion structure in creams and lotions. In metalworking, it functions as a boundary lubricant by forming a thin adsorbed film on metal surfaces, reducing friction and tool wear during cutting operations.

Myristic acid is supplied in flake, powder, and crystalline mass forms, with grades available to FCC and Ph.Eur. specifications for food and pharmaceutical applications. All material placed on the EU market is registered under REACH. Procurement teams should confirm grade and packaging format at the time of enquiry.
