Description

Myristoleic acid (CAS 544-64-9, EC 208-876-8) is a monounsaturated C14 fatty acid, also referred to as Myristoleate, C14:1 (cis-9) acid, or Myristolenic acid. It occurs naturally in seed fats and fish oils and carries no assigned E-code, as it is not classified as a food additive under European regulation.

In personal care formulations, myristoleic acid acts as an emulsifier by reducing interfacial tension between oil and water phases, improving texture and skin absorption. In food and pharmaceutical applications, its cis-9 double bond confers antioxidant-stabilising behaviour, helping to protect lipid matrices against oxidative degradation.

Myristoleic acid is supplied as a high-purity liquid grade, with 99% purity specifications available for demanding formulation work. It falls under REACH registration requirements for EU supply and should be handled in accordance with applicable GHS classifications. Packaging formats are available on request to suit laboratory and industrial volumes.
