Description

Myristyl myristate (CAS 3234-85-3) is a fatty acid ester produced by the esterification of myristic acid with myristyl alcohol. It carries no E-code designation and is commercially available under trade names including Cetiol MM, Ceraphyl 424, Kemester MM, and Liponate MM.

In skin care and colour cosmetics, myristyl myristate functions as an emollient and texture modifier, reducing drag on application by forming a thin lubricating film across the skin surface. In pharmaceutical topical formulations, it acts as a lipophilic carrier that improves the spreadability of active ingredients and supports controlled delivery through the stratum corneum.

Myristyl myristate is supplied as a white to yellowish waxy solid and is subject to REACH registration requirements for EU import and manufacture. It is available in cosmetic and pharmaceutical grades, with compliance documentation typically provided against Ph.Eur. and ISO 16128 natural origin criteria. Standard packaging includes fibre drums and bulk containers.
