Description

Neochlorogenic acid (CAS 906-33-2, EC 212-997-1) is a naturally occurring hydroxycinnamic acid ester, also referred to as 5-caffeoylquinic acid or neochlorogenate. It belongs to the chlorogenic acid family and carries no assigned E-code. It is structurally related to chlorogenic acid but differs in the position of the caffeoyl group on the quinic acid backbone.

In food and nutrition applications, neochlorogenic acid functions as an antioxidant by scavenging free radicals and chelating pro-oxidant metal ions, helping to extend shelf life in plant-based formulations. In pharmaceutical research and nutraceutical development, it is used as a reference standard and active ingredient where polyphenolic antioxidant activity and mild acidulant properties are required.

Neochlorogenic acid is supplied for research, nutraceutical, and pharmaceutical use and is subject to REACH registration requirements within the EU. Procurement professionals should confirm grade specifications and documentation, including purity certificates and safety data sheets, prior to ordering. HS code 29182900 applies for import and export classification.
