Description

Neopentyl glycol (CAS 126-30-7) is a diol alcohol also known as neopentanediol, dimethylolpropane, and under the trade name NEOL. It carries no assigned E-code and is classified under HS code 29053900. Its symmetrical, sterically hindered structure gives it distinct chemical stability compared to conventional glycols.

In polyester resins and alkyd coatings, neopentyl glycol acts as a crosslinker by reacting with dicarboxylic acids to form ester linkages, producing films with improved hydrolytic and UV resistance. In personal care formulations, it functions as a humectant and skin conditioner by binding moisture within the stratum corneum, and serves as a fragrance carrier in cosmetic blends.

Neopentyl glycol is supplied as crystalline chunks and is available in technical and cosmetic grades. It is fully REACH-registered and compliant with relevant EU chemical regulations. Standard packaging includes 25 kg bags and bulk quantities; SDS and technical data sheets are available on request.
