Description
Nonylphenol (CAS 25154-52-3, EC 246-672-0) is an alkylphenol compound produced by alkylation of phenol with nonene, supplied as a technical-grade mixture of isomers predominantly para-substituted. It is also referenced as monononylphenol or Phenol, nonyl- in trade and regulatory documentation.
In textile and leather processing, nonylphenol serves as a precursor to nonylphenol ethoxylate surfactants, where its lipophilic alkyl chain drives emulsification of oils and dyes at fiber surfaces. In polymer production, it functions as a chain-terminating agent and antioxidant stabilizer, controlling molecular weight and inhibiting oxidative degradation during processing.
Nonylphenol is supplied in technical grade under REACH registration and is subject to Regulation (EU) 2021/2030 restrictions on use in certain applications and concentrations. Procurement teams should confirm end-use compliance prior to ordering. Standard packaging includes IBC containers and bulk tanker delivery; documentation including SDS and CoA is available on request.
