Octinoxate

Octinoxate (CAS 5466-77-3) is an organic UV filter sold under trade names including Parsol MCX, Eusolex 2292, and Neo Heliopan AV. It absorbs UVB radiation in the 280–320 nm range and is one of the most established sunscreen actives used in cosmetic and pharmaceutical formulations across Europe.

In sunscreen and daily-use cosmetic products, octinoxate functions by absorbing UVB photons and dissipating the energy as heat, reducing UV-induced skin damage. It also contributes emollient properties to formulations, improving skin feel and spreadability. Pharmaceutical topical preparations use it to protect active ingredients from photodegradation.

Octinoxate is supplied as a cosmetic-grade liquid compliant with EU Cosmetics Regulation 1223/2009, where it is permitted up to 7.5% in finished products. It is subject to REACH registration and is available in standard drum and IBC packaging. Buyers should confirm current regulatory status, as restrictions in certain markets are under review.
