Description

PEG dilaurate (CAS 9005-02-1) is a polyethylene glycol diester of lauric acid, produced by esterifying PEG with two moles of lauric acid. It is sold under trade names including Hodag 22L, Nonex 104, and Ethox DL 9, and abbreviated as PEG200DL or PEG(4.5)DL. It carries no assigned E-code.

In textile and metalworking lubricants, PEG dilaurate reduces interfacial friction by forming an oriented ester film at metal or fiber surfaces. In cosmetic emulsions, it stabilizes oil-water systems by lowering interfacial tension between the two phases. It also functions as a solubilizer for lipophilic actives in aqueous personal care formulations.

PEG dilaurate is available in technical and cosmetic grades, with HLB values varying by PEG chain length. It falls under REACH registration requirements for EU supply. Packaging is typically supplied in drums or intermediate bulk containers depending on order volume.
