Description

Pentaerythritol distearate (CAS 13081-97-5) is a partial ester of pentaerythritol and stearic acid, commercially available under trade names including Cutina PES, Unister H 476D, and KB 1-15. It carries no assigned E-code and is classified under HS code 2917.19.7050.

In personal care formulations, it functions as an emulsifier and consistency agent in creams and sticks, stabilising oil-water interfaces through its mixed hydrophilic-lipophilic structure. In polymer processing, it acts as an internal lubricant and plasticiser, reducing melt viscosity and improving surface release during extrusion and moulding of PVC and similar resins.

The material is supplied as a powder or crystalline solid and is subject to REACH registration requirements within the EU. Procurement teams should confirm grade specifications, including acid value and saponification value, with the supplier prior to ordering, as these parameters vary between manufacturers.
