Pigment red 48:3

Pigment Red 48:3, CAS 15782-05-5, is a strontium-based azo pigment also known commercially as Red 2BS, Rubine Toner BO, Segnale Red BSR, and C.I. 15865:3. It belongs to the monoazo lake pigment class, where the chromophore is precipitated onto a strontium substrate to produce an insoluble, high-strength colorant.

In printing inks, it delivers strong bluish-red hues with good transparency, making it suitable for lithographic and flexographic applications where clean overprinting is required. In coatings and plastics, the strontium lake structure provides improved heat stability compared to sodium or calcium analogues, supporting processing at moderate polymer temperatures.
