(-)-α-Pinene (CAS 7785-26-4) is the levorotatory enantiomer of α-Pinene, a bicyclic monoterpene derived from natural pine sources. Also referred to as l-α-Pinene, L-a-Pinene, 1S-a-Pinene, and (-)-2-Pinene, it carries no assigned E-code and is classified under HS code 29021910.
In fragrance formulation, (-)-α-Pinene contributes a fresh, resinous pine character and serves as a chiral building block for synthesising terpenoid aroma compounds.
