Description
Poly(ethylene glycol) dioleate (CAS 9005-07-6) is a nonionic ester surfactant formed by esterifying polyethylene glycol with oleic acid at both terminal hydroxyl groups. It is commercially available under trade names including G 2242, DO 1000, Nonex 68, Nonex 69, and Ionet DO. It carries no assigned E-code and is not classified as a food additive.
In textile and leather processing, PEG dioleate functions as a fiber lubricant and softening agent, reducing interfiber friction during mechanical processing. In metalworking fluids, it acts as an emulsifier and boundary lubricant, stabilising oil-in-water emulsions while providing a protective film on metal surfaces. It also serves as an emollient carrier in personal care formulations.
PEG dioleate is supplied as a liquid and is subject to REACH registration requirements within the European Economic Area. Procurement teams should confirm the specific PEG chain length (molecular weight grade) when sourcing, as this determines HLB value and application suitability. Standard packaging includes drums and IBCs.
