Description

Polyglycerin-10 (CAS 9041-07-0, EC 232-921-0), also known as decaglycerin, decaglycerol, or decaglycerol, is a polyol produced by condensing ten glycerol units into a single hydrophilic chain. It carries no E-code designation and is commercially referenced under trade names such as PGL 10PS and Decaglycerol.

In personal care formulations, Polyglycerin-10 functions as a humectant by drawing moisture into the skin matrix and as an emulsifier that stabilises oil-in-water systems without synthetic surfactants. In food and pharmaceutical applications, its high hydroxyl group density makes it an effective carrier and dispersant for lipophilic actives, improving homogeneity in emulsified products.

Polyglycerin-10 is supplied as a thick oil and is available in food-grade and cosmetic-grade specifications. It is subject to REACH registration requirements within the EU and is evaluated under relevant FCC and food-contact frameworks depending on end-use. Procurement teams should confirm grade suitability against application-specific regulatory requirements.
