Description

Polyglyceryl-6 distearate (CAS 34424-97-0) is a polyglycerol ester formed by esterifying hexaglycerol with two stearic acid chains. It is sold under trade names including Caprol 6G2S, Polyaldo 6-2S, Plurol Stearique WL, and Polyaldo HGDS. It carries no E-code designation and is classified as a nonionic surfactant.

In cosmetic emulsions, it stabilises oil-in-water and water-in-oil systems by reducing interfacial tension between the two phases, enabling formulators to achieve stable creams without synthetic co-emulsifiers. In food applications, it functions as a fat crystal modifier in chocolate and compound coatings, slowing bloom formation and improving texture consistency during temperature cycling.

Polyglyceryl-6 distearate is supplied in bead form and is subject to REACH registration requirements within the EU. Suppliers typically offer food-grade material meeting relevant purity standards for use in regulated food and cosmetic applications. Procurement teams should confirm grade specification and documentation prior to ordering.
