Description

Potassium Cetyl Phosphate (CAS 19035-79-1, EC 242-768-1) is a potassium salt of a phosphoric acid ester derived from cetyl alcohol. It is commercially available under trade names including Amphisol K, Amfizol K, and Emulsiphos, and carries no assigned E-code for food applications.

In cosmetic emulsions, Potassium Cetyl Phosphate functions as an anionic emulsifier by orienting at the oil-water interface, reducing interfacial tension and stabilising oil droplets against coalescence. It is used in O/W creams and lotions to achieve stable, skin-compatible formulations, and in topical pharmaceutical preparations where controlled droplet size and pH compatibility are required.

The material is supplied as a solid and is subject to REACH registration requirements within the European Economic Area. Procurement teams should confirm supplier documentation for cosmetic-grade compliance with EU Cosmetics Regulation 1223/2009 and, where applicable, pharmaceutical-grade specifications aligned with relevant pharmacopoeial standards.
