Potassium Ethyl Xanthate (CAS 140-89-6, EC 205-439-3), also known as Potassium Xanthate, Potassium Ethylxanthogenate, or KEX, is a potassium salt of ethyl xanthic acid supplied as a light green crystalline powder. It carries no assigned E-code and is classified under HS code 29309090.
In mineral flotation, KEX acts as a collector agent, selectively binding to sulfide ore surfaces to render them hydrophobic and enable separation from gangue material.
