Description
Potassium hexafluorozirconate (CAS 16923-95-8, EC 240-985-6) is an inorganic fluorozirconate salt, commonly referred to as K2[ZrF6] or potassium fluorozirconate. It carries no assigned E-code and is distinct from simple zirconium salts due to its stable hexafluoro complex anion structure.
In metal surface treatment and corrosion inhibition, K2[ZrF6] forms a protective zirconium oxide conversion layer on aluminium and steel substrates by releasing fluoride ions that etch the surface and facilitate oxide deposition. It also functions as a biocide and preservative in textile processing and leather treatment, where controlled fluoride release disrupts microbial cell activity.
This product is supplied as a white crystalline powder and is registered under REACH. It is available in technical grade suitable for industrial processing in mining, water treatment, and personal care applications. Standard packaging follows European bulk chemical conventions; documentation including SDS and CoA is available on request.
