Potassium hexafluorozirconate

Potassium hexafluorozirconate (CAS 16923-95-8, EC 240-985-6) is an inorganic fluorozirconate salt, commonly referred to as K2[ZrF6] or potassium fluorozirconate. It carries no assigned E-code and is distinct from simple zirconium salts due to its stable hexafluoro complex anion structure.

In metal surface treatment and corrosion inhibition, K2[ZrF6] forms a protective zirconium oxide conversion layer on aluminium and steel substrates by releasing fluoride ions that etch the surface and facilitate oxide deposition. It also functions as a biocide and preservative in textile processing and leather treatment, where controlled fluoride release disrupts microbial cell activity.

This product is supplied as a white crystalline powder and is registered under REACH. It is available in technical grade suitable for industrial processing in mining, water treatment, and personal care applications.
