Description

Potassium oxalate (CAS 583-52-8, EC 209-506-8), also known as dipotassium oxalate or potassium neutral oxalate, is the dipotassium salt of oxalic acid with the formula C2H2O4·2K. It carries no assigned E-code and is not classified as a food additive.

In textile and leather processing, potassium oxalate acts as a reducing and sequestering agent, binding calcium and heavy metal ions to control precipitation during dyeing and tanning operations. In mining and metals, it serves as a selective precipitant and cleaning agent, removing metal deposits and scale by forming insoluble oxalate complexes with target cations.

Potassium oxalate is supplied as a technical-grade crystalline solid and is subject to REACH registration requirements within the European Economic Area. Standard packaging includes 25 kg bags and bulk quantities depending on supplier. Buyers should confirm purity specifications and safety data sheets prior to procurement.
