Description

Potassium perchlorate (KClO4), also known commercially as Peroidin, is an inorganic oxidising salt composed of potassium and perchlorate ions. It is classified under REACH regulations and handled as an oxidiser requiring specific storage and transport controls under European ADR provisions.

In solid rocket propellants and pyrotechnic compositions, potassium perchlorate acts as an oxidiser by releasing oxygen upon thermal decomposition, sustaining combustion of fuel components at controlled burn rates. In the printing and packaging sector, it is used in specific electrochemical and photochemical processes where a stable, high-oxygen-yield oxidant is required.

Potassium perchlorate is supplied as a dry crystalline powder in technical and pyrotechnic grades, subject to REACH registration requirements for industrial quantities. Packaging typically follows ADR Class 5.1 oxidiser regulations, with quantities and container formats determined by end-use authorisation and national competent authority requirements.
