Description

Potassium pyrophosphate (CAS 7320-34-5), also known as tetrapotassium pyrophosphate, TKPP, or E450(v), is an inorganic potassium salt of pyrophosphoric acid. It is approved as a food additive under EC regulation and recognised by the trade names Phosphosol and pyrophosphate de potassium across European markets.

In food and beverage processing, it functions as a sequestrant by binding divalent metal ions such as calcium and magnesium, preventing oxidative rancidity and stabilising emulsions in processed meats and dairy. In water treatment and industrial cleaning, it disperses scale-forming minerals by chelating hardness ions, while in textile processing it serves as a pH buffer during dyeing operations.

Potassium pyrophosphate is available in food-grade (E450(v), FCC-compliant) and technical-grade forms as a white crystalline powder. It falls under REACH regulation (EC 1907/2006) and is classified under HS code 28353990. Standard packaging includes 25 kg bags and bulk quantities on request.
