Description

Potassium Tetrafluoroborate (CAS 14075-53-7, EC 237-928-2, formula KBF4) is an inorganic fluoroborate salt, also known commercially as Potassium Fluoborate, Potassium Fluoroborate, and Potassium Borofluoride. It carries no assigned E-code and is not classified as a food additive. The mineral form occurs naturally as Avogadrite.

In metal surface treatment, KBF4 acts as a flux and grain refiner in aluminium casting alloys, releasing fluoride ions at elevated temperatures to control oxide formation. In water treatment and biocide formulations, its oxidising character disrupts microbial cell function, providing preservation activity. Electronics manufacturers use it as a controlled fluoride source in etching and cleaning processes.

Potassium Tetrafluoroborate is supplied as a micro-crystalline white powder in technical and high-purity grades, compliant with REACH registration requirements for the European market. Standard packaging formats include 25 kg bags. Buyers should confirm grade specification against application requirements prior to ordering.
