Description

Propargyl butylcarbamate (CAS 76114-73-3, EC 616-291-8) is a carbamate-based biocidal compound also referred to as PBC or 2-propynyl butylcarbamate. It carries no assigned E-code and is registered under REACH for supply within the European Economic Area.

PBC functions as a preservative by inhibiting fungal and bacterial growth through disruption of cellular enzyme activity. It is applied in industrial coatings and adhesives to prevent microbial degradation during storage and service life, and in water treatment formulations where it controls biofilm-forming organisms in process water systems.

Propargyl butylcarbamate is supplied as an oil-phase liquid suitable for direct incorporation into solvent-borne and waterborne formulations across coatings, leather processing, and textile finishing applications. Material is available in standard industrial drum packaging and complies with REACH registration requirements. Prospective buyers should confirm current SDS documentation and biocidal product authorisation status for their target application.
