Description

Propylparaben Sodium (CAS 35285-69-9), also known by trade names Nipasol Sodium and Nipasol M Sodium, is the sodium salt form of propylparaben, a paraben-class antimicrobial preservative. Its water-soluble nature makes it a practical alternative to the free acid form in aqueous formulations.

In cosmetic and personal care formulations, it inhibits the growth of fungi and gram-positive bacteria by disrupting cell membrane function, typically used at concentrations of 0.01–0.3%. In pharmaceutical preparations, it serves as a preservative in oral suspensions and topical products, often combined with methylparaben sodium for broader-spectrum protection.

Propylparaben Sodium is supplied as a white hygroscopic crystalline powder conforming to Ph.Eur. and USP/NF monographs, with REACH compliance applicable for EU trade. It falls under HS code 2918 29 00 and is available in standard drum and bag packaging suited to industrial procurement volumes.
