Description

Prussian Blue (CAS 14038-43-8) is an inorganic iron-based pigment also known as Blue 27, CI 77510, Iron Blue, and Ferrocin. It is produced through the reaction of ferric salts with ferrocyanide, yielding a deep blue crystalline material with strong light-absorbing properties across the visible spectrum.

In printing inks and packaging coatings, Prussian Blue delivers high tinting strength and UV stability, making it suitable for demanding colour-consistency requirements. In personal care formulations, it functions as a colorant and has demonstrated antimicrobial activity by disrupting microbial membrane integrity. Textile and leather processors use it to achieve durable surface coloration through its affinity for fibrous substrates.

This material is supplied as a dry powder and falls under REACH registration obligations for EU buyers. Procurement teams should confirm grade specifications against relevant colorant purity standards, as cosmetic and industrial grades differ in allowable impurity profiles. HS code 32041990 applies for import classification purposes.
