Silicic acid

Silicic acid (CAS 1343-98-2), also known as hydrated silica or silica gel, is an inorganic silicon compound commercially available under various trade names including Aerosil and Syloid. It belongs to the silicones and silicates category and is registered under EC number 215-683-2.

In personal care formulations, hydrated silica functions as a mild abrasive and rheology modifier in toothpastes and skin care products, controlling texture and flow behaviour. In water treatment, it acts as a coagulation aid, binding suspended particles for removal. In food and pharmaceutical manufacturing, it controls moisture and prevents caking in powdered products.

Silicic acid is available in food-grade, pharmaceutical-grade, and technical-grade forms, with compliance to Ph.Eur., FCC, and REACH regulations depending on application. Pharmaceutical and food grades meet stringent purity specifications for use in regulated end products. Standard packaging includes multi-wall paper bags and bulk containers.
