Description

Sodium cyclamate (CAS 139-05-9, E952iv) is a synthetic, non-nutritive sweetener approximately 30 to 50 times sweeter than sucrose. It is sold under trade names including Asugryn and Sodium Sucaryl and is commonly referred to simply as cyclamate in formulation and regulatory contexts.

In food and beverage manufacturing, sodium cyclamate is used in combination with saccharin or acesulfame-K to mask individual off-notes and achieve a balanced sweetness profile at reduced cost. In pharmaceutical applications, it masks the bitterness of active ingredients in syrups, chewable tablets, and oral suspensions, functioning as a flavoring agent rather than a caloric sweetener.

Sodium cyclamate is supplied as a white powder conforming to E952iv, FCC, and Ph.Eur. specifications. It is compliant with REACH and approved for use across EU member states under Directive 94/35/EC. Standard packaging includes 25 kg bags, with documentation available to support food-grade and pharmaceutical procurement requirements.
