Sodium dimethylbenzenesulfonate (CAS 1300-72-7) is an anionic surfactant and hydrotrope derived from xylene sulfonic acid, commercially available under trade names including Naxonate, Naxonate G, Naxonate 5L, Naxonate SX, and Conco SXS. It carries no assigned E-code and is commonly abbreviated as SDBS or SXS in formulation contexts.

In textile processing, it acts as a dispersing agent that keeps dye particles uniformly suspended in aqueous baths, improving dye uptake consistency. In industrial cleaning formulations, it functions as a hydrotrope, increasing the solubility of other surfactants and active ingredients in water-based systems, which allows higher-concentration liquid detergents to remain stable and pourable.

Sodium dimethylbenzenesulfonate is supplied as a white crystalline solid and in liquid solution grades, with the 40% and 93% active content grades being most common in European trade.
