Description

Sodium ferrocyanide (CAS 13601-19-9), also known as Yellow Prussiate of Soda, Sodium Prussiate Yellow, tetrasodium ferrocyanide, and Na4[Fe(CN)6], is an inorganic iron-cyanide coordination salt. Despite containing cyanide ligands, the iron-cyanide complex is chemically stable and considered non-toxic under normal handling conditions.

In food processing, sodium ferrocyanide functions as an anti-caking agent in table salt by binding to crystal surfaces and inhibiting moisture-induced clumping. In water treatment, it sequesters heavy metal ions through chelation, reducing their bioavailability and aiding precipitation. Mining operations use it as a selective reagent in gold and silver extraction processes.

Sodium ferrocyanide is available in food-grade and technical-grade forms, supplied as yellow crystalline solid. It is regulated under REACH (EC 237-081-9) and food-grade material must conform to applicable purity specifications including FCC standards. Standard packaging includes 25 kg bags and bulk quantities on request.
