Sodium fluoride

Sodium fluoride (CAS 7681-49-4) is an inorganic salt composed of sodium and fluorine, commercially available under trade names including Flursol, Karidium, Florocid, and FDA 0101. It carries no E-code designation and is registered under EC number 231-667-8.

In water treatment, sodium fluoride serves as a controlled fluoridation agent, adjusting fluoride ion concentration to regulated levels for public health compliance. In pharmaceutical and oral care formulations, it acts as an antimicrobial and remineralisation agent by inhibiting bacterial enzyme activity. It also functions as a flux and catalyst in certain glass and ceramic manufacturing processes.

Sodium fluoride is supplied in technical, pharmaceutical (Ph.Eur.), and pesticide grades, with pesticide-grade material typically dyed blue for identification. It falls under REACH regulation and requires an SDS in compliance with EU standards. Standard packaging includes 25 kg bags, with bulk options available depending on grade and application.
