Description

Sodium Methyl Siliconate (CAS 16589-43-8, EC 240-648-3) is an organosilicon compound supplied as an aqueous alkaline solution, commonly referenced under trade designations NS 1, DC 772, HSL 11, KZh 11, and GKZh 11. It carries no assigned E-code and is classified within the silicones and silicates chemical family.

In building and construction, it is applied to masonry, concrete, and porous mineral substrates where it reacts with atmospheric CO2 and surface moisture to form a hydrophobic silicone resin network, reducing water ingress without blocking vapour transmission. In water treatment and corrosion inhibition, it forms a protective film on metal surfaces and pipe interiors, limiting oxidative attack.

Sodium Methyl Siliconate is available in aqueous solution grades of varying active content and is subject to REACH registration requirements for supply within the European Economic Area. Standard packaging includes IBC containers and bulk tankers, with documentation including SDS and CoA provided upon request.
