Sodium molybdate

Sodium molybdate (CAS 7631-95-0, EC 231-551-7) is an inorganic molybdenum salt commonly referenced as Na2MoO4, disodium molybdate, or sodium molybdate(VI). It carries no assigned E-code and is commercially distributed under the sodium molybdenum oxide designation across European industrial markets.

In water treatment and metalworking fluids, sodium molybdate functions as a corrosion inhibitor by forming a protective oxide layer on ferrous metal surfaces, reducing electrochemical attack. In agricultural micronutrient formulations, it supplies molybdenum to nitrogen-fixing soil bacteria, directly supporting enzyme activity in legume crops.

Sodium molybdate is sourced in technical and feed-grade powder forms, with supply subject to REACH registration requirements under EU chemical regulations. European procurement typically involves 25 kg bags or bulk quantities, and buyers should confirm grade specification against intended application, particularly where feed or fertiliser compliance standards apply.
