Description

Sodium perborate (CAS 7632-04-4) is an inorganic oxidising compound also known as sodium peroxoborate, with trade names including Perborn and Dexol. It carries no E-code designation and is not classified as a food additive. It releases active oxygen upon dissolution, making it effective as a controlled oxidant in aqueous systems.

In textile and pulp processing, sodium perborate bleaches fibres and paper stock by generating hydrogen peroxide in solution, which breaks down chromophores without requiring elevated temperatures when activators are present. In personal care formulations, it functions as a tooth-whitening and denture-cleaning agent, and in water treatment it acts as a biocidal oxidant against bacteria and algae.

Sodium perborate is supplied as a white crystalline powder or granulate, available in monohydrate and tetrahydrate grades. It is subject to REACH registration requirements within the EU. Typical packaging includes 25 kg bags or bulk quantities; buyers should confirm grade specifications against relevant pharmacopoeial or industrial standards prior to procurement.
