Description

Sodium phosphate (Na3PO4, CAS 7601-54-9) is an inorganic salt commercially known under names including Tromete and Dri-Tri, and approved as food additive E339iii in the EU. It is the trisodium form of phosphoric acid and belongs to the orthophosphate family of salts and minerals.

In water treatment, sodium phosphate sequesters calcium and magnesium ions through chelation, preventing scale formation in boilers and pipework. In food and dairy processing, it functions as a pH buffer and emulsifying salt, stabilising protein structures during heat treatment. Textile and paper manufacturers apply it as a flame retardant by promoting char formation and inhibiting combustion.

Sodium phosphate is available in food-grade (FCC, E339iii) and technical grades as a white crystalline powder. It complies with REACH registration requirements and is supplied in 25 kg bags and bulk quantities. Buyers should confirm grade suitability against Ph.Eur. requirements for pharmaceutical applications.
