Description

Sodium Stannate (CAS 12027-70-2), also known as sodium orthostannate, disodium hexahydroxyltin, and sodium hydroxystannate, is an inorganic tin salt supplied as a technical-grade solid. It carries no assigned E-code and is registered under EC number 234-724-5.

In textile and leather processing, sodium stannate acts as a mordant and flame-retardant agent by depositing tin oxide onto fibre surfaces, improving both dye fixation and fire resistance. In electronics and metal finishing, it functions as a source of stannate ions in alkaline plating baths, enabling controlled tin deposition for corrosion-resistant coatings on copper and steel substrates.

Sodium stannate is available in technical and high-purity grades, including 99.9% purity material, and is subject to REACH registration requirements within the European Union. Standard packaging formats include fibre drums and multi-wall bags. Buyers should verify supplier Safety Data Sheets for current classification and handling obligations.
