Description

Sodium sulfate anhydrous (CAS 7757-82-6) is an inorganic salt commercially known as Salt Cake. It carries no E-number designation and is registered under EC 231-820-9. It is the anhydrous form of the compound, distinct from the decahydrate (Glauber's salt) used in other applications.

In pulp and paper manufacturing, sodium sulfate serves as a makeup chemical in the kraft process, replenishing sulfur and sodium lost during black liquor recovery. In textile processing, it acts as a levelling agent during dyeing, reducing the charge on cellulose fibres to control dye uptake rate and improve colour uniformity.

Sodium sulfate anhydrous is available in pharmaceutical grade (Ph.Eur. compliant) and technical grade, supplied in 25 kg bags or bulk quantities. The substance is fully registered under REACH and complies with applicable FCC standards for food-contact adjacent applications. Buyers should confirm grade suitability against their specific regulatory requirements.
