Soluble starch

Soluble starch (CAS 9005-84-9, EC 232-686-4) is a partially hydrolysed starch derivative that disperses readily in hot water to form a clear or translucent solution. It is commercially known under names including Amylogen and Amyogen, and is classified under HS code 35051090 within the polymers and resins category.

In textile sizing, soluble starch forms a protective film around yarn fibres, reducing breakage during weaving. In pharmaceutical manufacturing, it functions as a tablet binder and disintegrant, where its controlled swelling behaviour governs both granule cohesion and dissolution rate. Paper manufacturers apply it as a surface sizing agent to improve printability and surface strength.

Soluble starch is available in food-grade and technical-grade powder forms, with food-contact material compliance applicable in relevant supply chains. It falls under REACH registration requirements for EU import and use. Packaging is typically supplied in 25 kg multi-wall paper sacks or bulk bags depending on order volume.
