Description

Stannous octoate (CAS 301-10-0), also known as tin octoate, tin dioctoate, or by the trade name Nuocure 28, is an organotin compound supplied as a liquid catalyst. It carries no E-code designation and is classified under HS code 29159000 within the broader category of catalysts and catalyst precursors.

In polyurethane foam production, stannous octoate accelerates the gelling reaction between isocyanates and polyols, controlling cell structure and cure rate. It also serves as a condensation catalyst in silicone sealant and elastomer systems, promoting cross-linking at room temperature. In polylactic acid synthesis, it initiates ring-opening polymerisation of lactide monomers with high selectivity.

Stannous octoate is available in standard industrial grades and is subject to REACH registration requirements for supply within the European Economic Area. Procurement teams should confirm SDS compliance and tin content specification prior to ordering. Typical packaging formats include drums and intermediate bulk containers.
