Description

Terbutryn (CAS 886-50-0, EC 212-950-5, formula C10H19N5S) is a selective triazine herbicide and biocide, commercially known under trade names including Igran, Sunter, Prebane, and GS 14260. It is supplied as a technical-grade powder for agricultural and industrial preservation applications.

In agriculture, terbutryn controls broadleaf weeds and grasses in cereal crops by inhibiting photosynthesis at the photosystem II level, blocking electron transport in plant cells. It has also been used as an antimicrobial agent in construction materials, including facade coatings and renders, to prevent algal and fungal growth on exterior surfaces.

Terbutryn is available in technical-grade powder form suitable for formulation into wettable powders, suspension concentrates, or coating additives. Procurement teams should note that terbutryn is subject to REACH regulation within the EU and has faced restrictions under the Biocidal Products Regulation; buyers are advised to confirm current approval status in their target market prior to ordering.
