In epoxy-based printed circuit boards, TBBPA is reacted directly into the polymer backbone as a reactive flame retardant, interrupting combustion at the radical chain stage while maintaining structural integrity. In high-impact polystyrene and ABS compounds for automotive and construction panels, it functions as an additive, releasing bromine radicals under thermal decomposition to suppress ignition.

TBBPA is supplied as a crystalline solid in technical and high-purity grades. It falls under REACH regulation and is listed on the SVHC candidate list, requiring due diligence in supply chain documentation.
