Description

Tetradecamethylcycloheptasiloxane (CAS 107-50-6) is a cyclic siloxane composed of seven dimethylsiloxane units arranged in a closed ring structure. It carries no assigned E-code and is recognised in pharmaceutical contexts as Simethicone Impurity 17, where it appears as a controlled component within simethicone monographs.

In pharmaceutical antifoam formulations, it contributes to foam suppression by reducing surface tension at gas-liquid interfaces, disrupting bubble stability in gastrointestinal preparations. In coatings and sealant systems, its low surface energy promotes substrate wetting and improves slip characteristics, while in automotive lubricant applications it functions as a boundary lubricant additive.

This material is supplied as a liquid and is subject to REACH registration requirements within the European Economic Area. Procurement teams should verify purity specifications against Ph.Eur. simethicone monograph limits when sourcing for pharmaceutical use.
