Tetraethyl orthosilicate

Tetraethyl orthosilicate (CAS 78-10-4), also known as ethyl silicate, silicon ethoxide, or by the trade name Dynasil A, is a silicon-based ester used as a reactive precursor in sol-gel chemistry and surface treatment processes. In coatings and sealant formulations, tetraethyl orthosilicate functions as a cross-linking agent by hydrolyzing in the presence of moisture to form silanol groups, which then condense to build siloxane networks that improve adhesion and chemical resistance. In electronics manufacturing, it serves as a silica precursor for depositing dielectric oxide layers.
