Description
Tetraethylenepentamine (TEPA, CAS 112-57-2) is a polyamine compound also known commercially as Tetren, TETRENE, and TETRAEN. It contains five amine groups arranged along a linear carbon backbone, giving it a high density of reactive nitrogen sites available for coordination and chemical bonding.
In epoxy curing and polymer crosslinking, TEPA reacts with epoxide groups to form dense, chemically resistant networks, making it a functional hardener in coatings and adhesive formulations. In textile and paper processing, its amine groups bind to fiber surfaces and chelate metal ions, supporting both flame retardancy treatments and wet-strength applications.
TEPA is supplied as a technical-grade liquid and falls under REACH registration requirements for European supply. It is classified under HS code 29212900 and carries no E-code designation. Packaging is typically available in drums and intermediate bulk containers, with documentation including SDS and certificate of analysis provided on request.
