Description

Tetrasodium glutamate diacetate (GLDA 4Na-R) is a biodegradable aminopolycarboxylate chelating agent supplied as a colourless aqueous solution, registered under CAS 51981-21-6 and EC 257-573-7. It carries no E-code designation. It is also referenced commercially as Chelest CMG 40.

In water treatment, GLDA binds calcium, magnesium, and heavy metal ions to prevent scale formation and improve biocide efficiency. In personal care formulations, it sequesters metal ions that would otherwise destabilise preservative systems or trigger oxidative degradation. In industrial cleaning, it enhances surfactant performance by deactivating hardness ions in process water.

This product is supplied in liquid grade and is compliant with REACH regulations applicable to the European market. Procurement teams should confirm current packaging formats and lot-specific documentation directly with the supplier. Regulatory suitability for food-contact or cosmetic applications requires verification against applicable EU frameworks prior to use.
