Tetrasodium iminodisuccinate

Tetrasodium iminodisuccinate (CAS 144538-83-0, EC 604-420-0) is a biodegradable aminopolycarboxylate chelating agent, commercially available under trade names including Baypure CX 100, Baypure CC 100, and Borchigen 630, and abbreviated as IDS 4Na. It carries no E-code designation and is supplied as the fully neutralised tetrasodium salt form.

In water treatment, IDS 4Na sequesters calcium, magnesium, and heavy metal ions to prevent scale formation and inhibit corrosion in cooling and boiler systems. In textile and leather processing, it deactivates hardness ions in process water, preventing interference with dye uptake and improving bath stability. Personal care formulators use it to chelate trace metals that would otherwise catalyse oxidative degradation of active ingredients.

IDS 4Na is subject to REACH registration and is recognised as readily biodegradable under OECD 301 test criteria, making it relevant for formulations targeting environmental compliance standards. It is typically available in liquid form and supplied in drums or IBC containers through European distribution channels.
