Description
Tetrasodium pyrophosphate (TSPP, E450(iii)) is an inorganic sodium phosphate salt registered under CAS 7722-88-5. It is commercially available under trade names including Phosphotex and Victor TSPP, and is recognised as sodium diphosphate or sodium pyrophosphate across technical and regulatory documentation.
In food processing, TSPP acts as a sequestrant by binding divalent metal ions such as calcium and magnesium, preventing oxidative discolouration in seafood and cured meats. In water treatment, it inhibits scale formation through the same chelation mechanism. In textile and paper manufacturing, it functions as a dispersing agent and pH buffer during bleaching and dyeing processes.
TSPP is supplied in food-grade and technical-grade forms, available as crystalline powder or granules. It complies with E450(iii) specifications under EU food regulations and meets FCC and REACH requirements. Standard packaging includes 25 kg bags, with bulk options available on request.
