Tocopherols

Tocopherols (CAS 1406-66-2) are a group of fat-soluble compounds derived from vegetable oils, approved as food antioxidant E 306 in the EU. They are commercially available under trade names including E-Mix 60, E-Mix 80, E-Oil 600, and Tenox GT, with varying concentrations of alpha, beta, gamma, and delta tocopherol isomers.

In food and feed applications, tocopherols delay oxidative rancidity in fats, oils, and lipid-rich formulations by scavenging free radicals before they degrade product quality. In personal care, they protect emulsions and skin-conditioning formulations from oxidative breakdown while contributing mild moisturising activity to finished products.

Tocopherols are supplied in natural and synthetic grades, with natural-source material typically meeting FCC, Ph.Eur., and EU food additive specifications. The substance is registered under REACH and complies with EC No 1333/2008 for food use. Packaging formats commonly include drums and IBCs for bulk procurement.
